It’s an hour to midnight here… who wants to hear about another odd story?

hhh ok

apparently, strange things have happened surrounding my grandma’s death.

tbh, aside from a happy dream I had on her funeral, I don’t remember much of it. These were all based on what my mom told me years later.

I was about four or five when she passed away. I don’t remember if she suffered at all. Maybe she was just good at hiding it from me and my siblings. A few days after she died, I had a dream she stepped into the kids’ room (my little brother was also there). She was looking the healthiest I’ve ever seen her, wearing her best clothes and her favorite jewelry.

She was also smiling really big. She said she wanted to take us to McDonald’s. I was starting to list out all the things I wanted to order when I suddenly woke up.

Time skip more than a decade, while sharing random anecdotes with my mom over a cup of coffee, she told me about something odd that happened when they brought grandma’s remains back to her hometown (we kept switching to different topics and somehow it went to my grandma’s funeral). While aboard a large passenger ship, me and my brother disappeared for a whole hour which ended up involving the crew doing a full sweep of the ship only for us to come back by ourselves. When my parents asked me where we were, I only told them we were playing with grandma.

If that weren’t a shock already, I also told them she was hanging out in the ship’s cargo hold with a guy wearing a white uniform. I was not supposed to know that her coffin was kept there. She said that was the single creepiest thing she’s ever heard me say.

I honestly have no recollection of this.

My mom neither spoke of nor visited her grave for years. I never asked her why. She only went back to her hometown when my grandma’s cousin passed away and that was the first in a long time she saw the grave again.

The cement covering her grave as well as the tombstone was cracked in half. There was a tree growing out of it.

You might think it’s cool but you see it’s kind of different here. A tree growing out of a grave can only mean one thing. Grandma never rested in peace.
